So, we finally got a rain storm of our own 2 nights ago. Not much thunder or lightening, but did it rain! The weather report said we got about 2 1/2" here in Mesa in just an hour or so. This pic was taken about 20 hours later after everything settled. You can see that the front corner of my porch collapsed. (Darn it) We had water up over the pavers about and inch deep, and there was standing water out past the tree. It was coming in from the street, flowing down the driveway, running through the carport, and out the back yard into the street where it started. Also, as you can see, pooling in the front yard. I thought it would be fun to sit out on the porch this morning with fishing poles just to see what reaction we could get from people passing by. But, alas, we don't own fishing poles!

So you finally got the rain storm you were looking for...I'm looking out the window right now and it looks like one is moving our way. We just got some front porch furniture, so now we have a place to watch it.
It sounds like you could have used some of the river rock in the front yard and Rick could have broke out the tubes and it would be like the Salt river he was promising to take you on.
I think Nate's idea is great...everybody likes tubing!
We probably could have gone tubing in our own river. It was pretty full of water as well. If you click on the picture and make it full size, you can see all the mud that has dried on the rocks. That wasn't there until it rained.
